Topic: [solved] unable to connect to game-site / java problem

I'm trying to play the yatzy game on www.spigo.nl or www.spigo.com, but it doesn't run....
I'm using Statler Alpha2, Iceweasel 3.6.8, installed and uninstalled several plugins, but it doesn't help.

Can anyone play this game (or other games from this site)? If so, which browser and which plugins (un)installed?

Edit: maybe it's not an Iceweasel/plugin problem. The games are loading, in terminal i get some errors:
'LZConnectionClient is not connected and cannot send messages.'
And my CPU goes up to 90%

Thanks,
Tuna

ps This is really important, as my girlfriend is telling me: "Now you see, you should use windows vista like i do"... yikes

Re: [solved] unable to connect to game-site / java problem

Step one is putting your foot through the screen your girlfriend uses.

But no, I can't help you. Sorry.

I tried again, starting iceweasel from terminal so i could see the output...

It doesn't seem to be a java problem, the applet is loading and the progress bar starts.
In the output it gives a lot of errors, mostly:
LZGameAdapterContext.insureKeyIsContainedInLanguagePairs: io is null or not connected requesting key
LZConnectionClient is not connected and cannot send messages!

LZ probably stands for LibZard as i also found this in the output:

  ____ _
 / ___| _ __ (_) __ _ ___
 \___ \| '_ \| |/ _` |/ _ \
  ___) | |_) | | (_| | (_) |
 |____/| .__/|_|\__, |\___/
       |_| |___/
 Using LibZard™ by SPIGO®

 Java RE version: 1.6.0_18
Java VM total memory: 82.375 Mb
Java VM max memory: 487.3125 Mb
 OS name: Linux
 OS arch: i386
 OS version: 2.6.32-5-686
 LibZard version: 3.4.22
 Game and version: Ludo 1.3.3
 Language: Nederlands (nl)
 Country: Nederland (NL)

So it seems the applet is not able to connect to the game server. My girlfriend (yep, didn't follow step 2 provided by Unia) uses the same network and her (cough cough) windows machine can connect. I don't have a firewall running on my laptop.

Re: [solved] unable to connect to game-site / java problem

I changed the title of this topic as this isn't a java problem.
Does anyone else have problems connecting to some online game sites?
Or (even better): know a solution?

Re: [solved] unable to connect to game-site / java problem

I tried www.spigo.nl, www.spigo.co.uk and www.spigo.com. No go.

I tried some other Java games sites which worked.

Maybe to problem is spigo and linux. Maybe they need to be sent an email and the answer shared.

Re: [solved] unable to connect to game-site / java problem

Thanks for checking this... which #! and which browser did you use?

I just booted the linux mint 9 fluxbox live cd (rather nice btw)... and i can access the games without problem...
so... not a linux-in-general problem, but maybe a debian of crunchbang problem?

anyone?

Re: [solved] unable to connect to game-site / java problem

I'm using 9.04 and have chrome, chromium and firefox. Of course Mint is based upon Ubuntu, the same as 9.04...

Re: [solved] unable to connect to game-site / java problem

My ongoing adventures...

I had a look in linux mint's plugins for firefox, and instead of the icedtea plugin, there is the (Sun?) Java Plugin 1.6.0_20. Maybe that makes the difference. So i tried to remove Icedtea and OpenJDK on Statler. Then installed sun-java6 + sun-java6-plugin.

And i also did this: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … iceweasel/

It's working now. It seems this game site wants the 'official' sun java installed.

I hope Oracle won't make us too unhappy with it's FOSS policy in the near future...
