Re: September 2010 Screenshot thread
Something new~
OS: Ubuntu 10.04
WM: FVWM
Fonts: billboard - bleed2, window decor - bleed2, xterm - fixed, everything else - liberation sans
GTK: retrofukation(modded to be flatter)
FVWM: Tartan's Starter Kit with modded window decor on the side
Wallpaper: retrofukation pattern with a sunset rider sprite
@tartan, Thanks a million for the fvwm scripts. They were a huge lifesaver. I hate starting from scratch with that WM. I'm a die hard FVWM user now after your breezy setup, it's basically like a mini distro!! I'm gonna start trying some new ideas with it too.
@gutterslob, Dude I think I about got this theme completely flat with murrine. I've been setting everything to zero in the gtkrc as far as widget animation/glassy/stripped effects go. It looks real slick like that. You were a big inspiration. THx dude
Basically, I just wanted something more retro 8 bitish and really got serious about my netbooks resolution. THat's why the decor is on the left side and my task bar has been integrated into my menus (window client like menu and clock in main menu)

{sigh} two monitors! Sweet! {dream}
Did you realize that the wallpaper on the left screen is backwards?
Yes! I realized, but I wanted the same as the other screen and to make them match I reverse it. I tried to make something with Gimp but I'm not very good!
The main part (black line) were made by gutterslob. I find his wallpaper very nice and I modified them with this brown background and carbon-like texture.
Keep'on trying

You'll find the native language of the artist to not match what you think ![]()

@Elder
It's a great wallpaper. I'm gonna search for your thread and look at your newest offerings after I post this.
...and that's Trebuchet? O_o .... Dang!!!... never imagined it would look that good at large sizes. Thanks :-)
@hhh
Beautiful as always, mate.
I shamelessly posted sidux (with OB and #! configs) screenshots for months before Statler came out, so no worries there. =P
@cogburn
That's beautiful, man.
I once made an OB-friendly Retrofukation inspired theme as well (can't remember what month it was) but your GTK looks light-years ahead of what I did.
Yeah, I've actually had similar success flattening Murrine, but it's a tad harder to get right on my preferred dark themes (mainly border contrast issues).
Inspiration goes both ways, mate. You (and everyone else) inspire me, and I just try to return the favour if I can. :-)
One thing I'll say - I can probably count the number of GTK themes with truly classic/timeless palettes with just one hand, and Retrofukation is definitely one of them.
@SuNjaCK
Great work as always. :-D
Mind sharing the wallpaper?
@spy971
Great setup. I like what you've done with the wallpapers. Also, flipping the left one to give your dual-screen setup some balance was a good move. :-)
@Gazhole
Yes, it's traditional and dark, but still traditionally damn nice. ;-)
Tradition is good!! (especially in alcohol production)

Re: September 2010 Screenshot thread
I didn't change that much; only the wallpaper and colors. I plan on editing my conky with some lua rings, but for now I'll leave it at this:

Is that notification-daemon or xfce4-notifyd? How did you get it to look like that?
Re: September 2010 Screenshot thread
Regular notification-daemon with the dark Slider theme. You can modify the settings via notification-properties.

@g.s. Lol and thanks man:^)
Re: September 2010 Screenshot thread
@rstrcogburn ~ Thats why I like it. I've seen some of the series (I eventually had to stop for a while because I started loosing track of space/time within the series). As for a NaVi? No, not really. I keep Windows a little more tolerable though through a launcher interface in Samurize... Unfortunately, I'm a windows developer as well as a Linux developer... I need to make sure code I write runs on anything.
Also, which Icon theme do you use? that one looks +win -- I like near-pixely themes.
Edit I fail at google. Found 'em ![]()
@Him ~ +win for absolute lightness. I like it

Re: September 2010 Screenshot thread
Im using Debian, but with statler repos for some scripts, apps etc.
So i think its okay to post in a crunchbang forum ![]()
Here we go:
Dirty:
Clean:
Theme: Modified Moka (lighter)
Icons: Smokikon 0.9
Upper Panel: Conky
Lower Panel: XFCE4-Panel
Wallpaper: From deviantart
As u can see: Nothing special really, but i like it clean and simple.

Re: September 2010 Screenshot thread
@indrora haha, yeah the google does wonders. (just don't let digit see that, he'll roast ya for not googling before asking
) You should be able to use the real Retrofukation for widoze. Speaking of which, I had to break down and install a windoze driver yesterday on my wind u100. Ehrr, as much as i hated to. Haha, yeah Lain will zap the reality right out of ya.'
@nicepics, I like that boishock paper. Good game. You ever play Fallout. I can think of some sweet themes to do around that one.
I'm currently kinda theming around SNES type stuff. ^ you can see my lil sunset rider sprite above. I just love those old pixely characters.
@sunjack, nice celestial touch!
@slob, yeah man Retrofukation comes with a box decor. I'm not using it though, gotta have those decors on the side. I would if openbox did vertical titlebars. Only one i've found so far that can handle it is FVWM. It's a hell of alot more customizable and faster than openbox. The pipe menu possiblities are endless. I'm working on some ideas at the moment. I'd like to implement the man page menu that benj1 and I talked about on another thread. I'll probably be moving away from Retrofukation in the future to more homebrew themes, I'm just kind of starting here. Probably continue moding the colors/ FVWM decor and eventually add ACYL icons.
@corenominal Hi, I never see you posting any more homeslice!!
You design one sweet little mini distro.
