Re: Wireless takes 20 + seconds to connect...

Which program are you using to connect to wireless (Knetworkmanager, Wicd, nm-applet, etc)? And does the slow connection happen with the others too or just one program.

If it is a computer wide issue (it happens with multiple programs) then my next question would be what sort of signal strength do you have? My Ralink card takes a very long time ~30 secs or so to connect if the signal strength is less than 30%. However it connects in about 2 seconds even with WPA2 encryption @ 100% strength.

If the signal is good and it still happens with all programs then I would suggest seeing if other peoples (or another one of your own) computers take a  long time to connect to your network wirelessly, It is possible that something is configured wrong...

Re: Wireless takes 20 + seconds to connect...

Im using network manager (nm-applet)
And i know that it isnt anything with the signal strength because once nm-applet starts, it says no wifi network found, and then 15 seconds later it shows my wireless  connections..
i dont think its the wifi, but rather the program

Re: Wireless takes 20 + seconds to connect...

i noticed wicd starts connecting before the system is even usable
nm-applet only started connecting only after everything was loaded
