adesk - a desktop launcher ... some questions abot how to use it :)

so, im trying to control my conky (the lua script at least) via the buttons i generate from ADcomp's adesk

q1... can i only get one button from each instance of the script?

q2... in bash i have learnt how to use the cat command to read a file and grep, awk, sed etc to edit out a piece of information
does python do the same thing in the same way?

here is what im trying to do:

i have a text file that either contains "1" or "0" (this is changed by clicking the adesk button)

if it contains 1 i want to have the button in one place, if it contains 0 i want the button in a different location

is this possible with the script?
