Topic: whats up with xorg?

im using crunchbang 9.04
and ive been noticing that after my system has been on for a while xorg just seems to be really high...

with nothing but conky im getting xorg using 20% of my cpu and when i try and lauh a program it shoots up...as i write this xorg is at 40% cpu

im using a lowly GeForce FX 5200 as my graphics card (my good card broke and i had that as a replacement) would that affect it?

are there any solutions for getting xorg under control?

thanks

It's hard to find something if you don't know what you're looking for.
I have a blog, it's mostly about conky and lua stuff... go here.

Re: whats up with xorg?

Which driver are you using?

Do you have compositing enabled?

Does this happen if you use the #! 9.04 Live CD too? What about other distros?

driver...
Device manager says this:
VGA controller
model:NV34 [GeForce FX 5200]

i do have compositing turned on

i havnt tried the live cd, but i could try it out
and i dont use any other distros!

well i just went to restricted device manager from the menu and it had a suggestion to install an nvidia proprietary driver...
so its doing that right now.. maybe that will help
