Topic: Hoy to update to the latest Kernel?

I realized my crunchbang has an old kernel but i cant upgrade with any of the built in software (aptget, system pudate, synaptic, etc)

what should i do?
i have the latest release, everything else is upgraded to its latest version

Re: Hoy to update to the latest Kernel?

This is for #! 9.04 right?

If you want the latest kernel, you have to compile it or find DEB files for it:

Re: Hoy to update to the latest Kernel?

If you're using 9.04, just leave it as it is. Whatever you do, do NOT do system-upgrade.

Re: Hoy to update to the latest Kernel?

There is no need to have the latest kernel. While it is true that Ubuntu/Debian sticks with "old" kernels, they constantly provide bug fixes and patches to this kernel, so there is nothing to worry about. smile

Re: Hoy to update to the latest Kernel?

Do you need some new piece of hardware that only has kernel support in a later version or something? If not there really isn't a need as others have suggested. If you want newer software, and newer kernels perhaps upgrading to statler over 9.04, or if not Lucid or something else newer as 9.04 runs out of support next month.

Re: Hoy to update to the latest Kernel?

Installing the latest crunchbang (its alpha version but works ok) solved everything
