Topic: (Xfce) My keybindings aren't loading

I had a stable and working installation of Statler Xfce on one of my boxes. Recently, though, I changed the mount point of one of my partitions, via /etc/fstab, from ~/stuff to just ~. The folder itself seems to mount without a problem, but the keybindings that I have aren't loading upon boot (super+w, super+f, for example). It seems like changing the mount point is unrelated to my hotkeys, but that was the only change that occurred before this happened. Any help?

Thanks,
David

Re: (Xfce) My keybindings aren't loading

Xfce seems to have an issue with keyboard shortcuts, or did once. You could try

killall xfce4-settings-helper

just to see if it works. The mounting thing might be a coincidence. When I was trying Statler Xfce alpha 1 I had to run that command regularly to get my keyboard shortcuts back.

Re: (Xfce) My keybindings aren't loading

The problem seems to be intermittent - and yes, xfce4-settings-helper is running at startup,  but I haven't killed it just yet because I want to see why this doesn't happen everytime.

But thanks for the tip! I'm going to try it.

Re: (Xfce) My keybindings aren't loading

If you kill xfce4-settings-helper it should be restarted immediately by xfce's session manager, bringing in your keyboard shortcuts with it - if that's the cause of your problem. It's a known bug: http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5639
