Topic: add channels to radiotray

This evening i'm playing with radiotray... really nice...

i was wondering if it is possible to get streams from sites like accujazz.com or jazzradio.com to play in radiotray.
It's much nicer to play the radio without an open browser window.

Or any other app that might be able to play this radio channels.

This channel is awesome (well to me... a lot of people might get nervous)

Absolutely! So many of these radio stations and music sites seem to need flash these days, so you have to have a browser running. I'd really like to have a little app that could hook up to those sites and just play!

... btw I've just tried out Radiotray and it is very nice smile
The only sticking point is that you have to find the urls yourself (and those flash sites are a problem).

A handy app for finding stations was Streamtuner, but it hasn't been maintained for years and it can't access Shoutcast any more. Recently Streamtuner2 has shown up. It's still a beta, but already usable to some extent. It's written in python not C and it's much slower and heavier than streamtuner - the good news is that it seems under active development, should work, and can accept 3rd-party plugins so might be very useful in the future.

I've streamtuner installed as well... shall we start a radiostation thread? I'm into lists at the moment smile

A list of radio station streaming URLs? Great idea!

I can contribute a couple, if you like "world" music. (I don't like that term but there doesn't seem to be much alternative.)

BTW another light and simple radio tuner you might like is 'tunapie' big_smile

Thanks for the channel recommendation – perfect for me!

I never use smilies, but there are exceptions that prove the rule wink
