Topic: Installing New Software in #! is pain.

...Or am I doing it wrong...I just hope I am.
As much as I love #!...I equally DO NOT enjoy new software install process.
Eg. I want to install a software called "OPENSHOT"...

Can someone atleast for once, explain it to me in English?
What do I do?
I Do not see it in Synaptic...
Even If I download...then what....
A simple nice explanation would be so much appreciated. sad

Re: Installing New Software in #! is pain.

Installing software in Linux is not "a pain"--in fact it is very easy and safe--but you must learn some new habits. smile

Which CrunchBang release are you using? Openshot can be easily installed in the current CrunchBang Statler Alpha 2 using Synaptic package manager or:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install openshot

Re: Installing New Software in #! is pain.

Thank you Lord for sending 'Snowpine' so quick... lol
I am using #!9.04...I can't install #!10, my screen fades away.
Anyway. I did all that man.....still it won't....I don't want to go back to Mint....

Re: Installing New Software in #! is pain.

Both of your recent threads are basically saying "Help me, CrunchBang 9.04 has outdated software!" This is true. smile The 9.04 indicates all of the software is from April 2009. In fact, 9.04 will reach its "end of life" next month and become obsolete. I would recommend using a newer release if you want newer software.

It looks like Luc is trying to help you get #! Statler installed in your other thread, I hope that works out and you can use the new release. smile

Re: Installing New Software in #! is pain.

Go to this page:

http://www.openshotvideo.com/2008/04/download.html

Go down to Download Installer, select your CPU type then select Ubuntu 9.04. Download the DEB file and just install by double-clicking.
