Topic: Just making my obligatory first post

Sorry this is very off-topic and I would’ve used the test section if there were one...!

Looking forward to Statler entering beta. However much people praise the stability of the current alpha, I don’t think I’ll change my habit of not trying out alphas.

My armada: Arch (desktop, test machine), Debian GNU/Linux 6.0 (laptop, netbook, server), Mythbuntu 11.04 (HTPC), Windows 7 Ultimate (test machine)

You could give it a chance in virtual machine. smile

Re: Just making my obligatory first post

Welcome to the forums mate! Nice to see another new cruncher big_smile

Re: Just making my obligatory first post

Well to say the truth, I’m not really a “new” cruncher. I used 9.04 (and the version before that, forget the number) a lot when it was still fresh, but since *buntu upgraded to 9.10, I was afraid I was going to get only age-old software from the repos and switched to Ubuntu Netbook Edition. Bad decision. Bad, bad, bad decision. Never been happy with it.

Now I’m almost counting the days till Statler reaches at least the beta stage...

Re: Just making my obligatory first post

Tried it, fell for it...

It really seems there’s nothing that can reasonably be compared to CrunchBang out there. My last resort before installing alpha 2 (my first alpha distro EVER) was Peppermint OS One. Right after installation troubles started: for goodness’ sake, I couldn’t even open the default terminal (= LXTerminal)! Without an error message it simply vanished. Of course I could use virtual terminals and install other terminal emulators at my whim, but... come on. How can you trust a distro if it breaks right after installation?!

So: CrunchBang is here again, sitting comfortably at my netbook. What a feeling of relief. Like coming home again.
