Christmas Wish List, 2012

I want a tablet, and while the Nexus7 or Nexus10 look good, they're going to take a lot of work to get Debian running on them...

Thus, a little excited when I saw this; Pengpod tablets, dual booting Linux and Android! monkey

http://pengpod.com/products/pengpod1000

Let me know if there's something better! What are you looking forward to?

Bah-Humbug to that Peace On Earth nonsense.  mad  Been waiting for that since the Romans invaded Gaul. What kind of Toys do you want?

Re: Christmas Wish List, 2012

Peace on Earth.

To never see another Christmas advertisement for jewelry or cars with big bows on them. Did you know Mercedes and Lexus have to stock warehouses FULL of those, they get such a demand for them at the holidays?

To never again hear Christmas music of any sort, it's at least a solid month of living hell for me every year (especially "Carol of the Bells". Cool as could be the first time I heard it, driving me insane ever since). The exception is Vince Guaraldi's score to "A Charlie Brown Christmas", which is perfection on Earth. You could loop that in Audacity and blast it on 11 from giant speakers perched on Everest, as far as I'm concerned.

For everyone to repeatedly watch the aforementioned Charlie Brown special and note the way-ahead-of-its-time line (1965!) said by Lucy Van Pelt... "Look, Charlie, let's face it. We all know that Christmas is a big commercial racket. *whispers* It's run by a big eastern syndicate, you know."

Re: Christmas Wish List, 2012

I want the Sun to release a giganormous flare, not enough to kill people, but sufficient for it's EMP to render everything electronic completely useless. Then I'll take out those ignition coils and plugs I have stored in my little home-made Faraday Cage and head downstairs (using the stairs, cos the elevator won't work) to the storage area in the car-park where I've kept this old 2-stroke carburetted endoro bike (kickstart only). Then I'll fit the components in, ride the thing around town and wish all the motor-less people a merry X'mas while letting them inhale aromatic blue fumes.

That sounds really mean to people dependent on pacemakers though.

I want a new sound system for my new PC. Old one fried my last PC's motherboard by sending a current through the audio cable... Currently using the worst PC speakers on the planet™.

Just to spend some time with family before deployment. I don't need toys.

Alright, maybe a new mouse and a Thinkpad T60

Haha thanks, I already have my leave scheduled from Dec. 15th to Jan. 1st. I won't be deploying for a while, but all the time I can take before then will be great

My first choice is to have enough money to live comfortably on so that I never have to work for a living again.  If I can't have my first choice, then a job that I'll always love and that pays well until I'm ready to retire.

Re: Christmas Wish List, 2012

That pengpod looks very promising, and so cheap. If I weren't totally broke I would definitely consider backing them, probably for the 700.

I wish for an Xbox 360 controller with a trackball instead of a right stick that I can still put a chatpad onto, and better drivers for the chatpad in linux.
