Very Happy New #!(l)user

Good afternoon from the US east coast!  I've had a casual on-again/off-again history with linux since 1997.  I had been running CentOS on my Dell Latitude D410 (ship date 2005) then jumped into #! last night and really couldn't be happier.  From downloading and installing I was up and running in literally 25 minutes with no driver or application issues at all.

I'd really like to thank the developers here for their contributions of time and effort into this project.  As users, engineers, administrators, and programmers we are awarded untold wealth from the free and open source communities.  Although I'm a registered supporter of both the Free Software Foundation and the Linux Foundation, my professional life has constantly led me to work as an MCSE (yeah, I know).  But, I've been sneaking linux into every position I've held as my swiss army knife to accomplish enterprise monitoring, firewalling, web serving and a little more.

With that said, I will still be asking dumb question after dumb question from time to time as I try to nail jello to the wall.

Again, a hearty thanks and I hope to be able to contribute to the discussion when possible.

John

Welcome to #!  smile

Was CentOS running on your laptop since 2005, or is that just the year it was made? If the first - wow - long time without a switch-up!
