Smartphone help please

I went out yesterday and bought a new 32GB Micro-SD card for my Samsung Galaxy S3. Now I have it installed, I formatted and I've started attempting to place files on there. I opened up the new SD card folder and I created two folders, called "Music" and "Pictures." I have been able to successfully place files into my pictures, yet the music folder refuses to accept anything. I tried FLAC/MP3/M4A/etc. None of them seem able to and I am presented with the message

MyPhone wrote:

The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected.

Yet my phone has yet to be disconnected or anything. It'll weirdly let put one album on and after that it refuses to add anymore. Has anybody else experienced this and what did you do to fix it?

Note: I formatted from the S3 itself

I can't help, but consider asking in HoFo forum,
-> forum

Do a search for "samsung forum" for more places.

Re: Smartphone help please

I think Samsung uses the MTP protocol with all its products nowadays.
Unless you want to embark on a lengthy adventure struggling with a Microsoft created protocol, I'd suggest a usb card reader (something like this).

Re: Smartphone help please

or you can use mtpfs (exists in the unstable repo's) to establish connection with your phone over MTP.

just tried gMTP (apt-get install gmtp) with my Nexus 4, and it works out of the box wink

Re: Smartphone help please

I use airdroid to share files which works over a wireless network. Transfer speed is not that much slower than USB.
