That said, whats wrong with VLC?

It runs poorly on slower machines. I don't often watch videos on my netbook but it's nice to be able to when I have to and it's impossible with VLC. I imagine there are folks who use slower computers as their main systems who would like to at least have the option.

This option you mean

sudo apt-get remove vlc

sudo apt-get install gnome-mplayer

pay the bills with Windows, obssesed with Linux, studying CCNA when I can fit it in.

This would be one of those times (although that's a pretty cool distro, it MIGHT be a bit much of an adjustment.)

Offtopic: I hope crunchbang13 will be Floyd ...no wait ...Beaker! big_smile

Keep on rocking, I like crunchbang a lot. Can't wait to see a new release.

EDIT: Ah, I see how this works now. Have to wait for the first letter of the "next" Debian Version.
This will take a while.

^^ I thought so. wink  I'm afraid I'd have trouble taking Sourcemage seriously; not sure if it is maintained by a Rowling fan or a sophomore Wicca...

Why use native languages when almost all documentation is in english?

Ew, Milozzy wished only that we could share our own openbox menu translations. We could easily do that in a separate thread.
All my CB setups have several users and I always translate menus for them and myself, for consistency and comfort.

Sure, I understand. It`s not for me though. Initially when I started with linux I used my native language, but was so offended by bad translations througout in apps and distros, that I decided to use english for everything. In my country we have to two main languages for writing, and even if I chose my language, I sometimes got the other language for some elements, and even if I understand that language, I really, really hate it..., so english is better for me.

Can we please include python-smbc in the printer install(from cb-welcome)? It allows users to browse the network for SAMBA printers.

Yes, and that would of course be a rolling-release, which is perfect. It could still be named Crunchbang Animal in 2050 smile

For what it's worth as a new #! user, I think Crunchbang Animal a la sid would be awesome indeed.

Re: Ideas for Janice

I would like to have auto update of menu. Many people anyhow do installation of many softwares of their wish. So it would be nice to have that feature so that new/first time user need not update the script themselves.
I have read couple of pages on this ideas for the new release and not sure whether anyone has asked this before.
As a new user I would also like to have the first time install scripts to have an application launcher such as wbar. Those who want can select this.
Thanks

Re: Ideas for Janice

I've got a wacky idea. From what I can gather #! prides itself on being lightweight. What if Netsurf was included alongside iceweasel for those that ARE running on limited resources?

Though, might not be the best idea, I mean, the #! website is one of the websites that doesn't completely work in Netsurf.

Re: Ideas for Janice

Dillo is fast too, but netsurf is the only one I've used that has reasonably accurate page rendering and is still really light. Dillo mangles webpages pretty badly... Which can be okay sometimes, if you need something fasterer tongue

Re: Ideas for Janice

What about a option to have your desktop automatically change your wallpapers?  And are animated wallpapers done by just using s gif image at the right resolution?

Re: Ideas for Janice

Idk... Maybe add the option of Wayland, because I've had to many issues, with ATi chipsets under X11, and, following Wayland development, the Wayland team is trying to fix the options. I think it just needs to be more stable before anything else though, So maybe not...

Re: Ideas for Janice

Upon doing another install of #!, I remembered that the "Configure the Keyboard" page didn't have Colemak listed. I realize us Colemak users are pretty much third-class citizens, but I still think it would be rather convenient if Colemak was listed on this page, rather than being forced to choose QWERTY and having to wait to edit relevant preference files until after install. I mean, Dvorak users have an entry cry

EDIT: I just realized that this would probably fit in better in the feedback section. I don't know why I instinctively put it here. Hopefully it's not a big deal D':

Re: Ideas for Janice

#! Waldorf imo is the classiest distro i've ever came across! So my only request for the next #! Janice is, make it classier.
Please, please im begging you to not turn #! Janice into a Mac/Windows/ wannabe, like how some of other popular distros are becoming and i hate those distros with a burning passion. sad
Please dont listen to some wierdos here asking for plank/dock/etc/crap.
+1 for systemd
+1 for GIMP as an option
+1 for Thunar 1.6++ and not others.
+1 for CMUS
+1 for SMPlayer as default.
+1 for Libreoffice,Abiword as options
+1 for Deadbeaf

...but Janice is too feminine.. cant we get a manlier name?
