So are there any analytics for the site that might tell you how many hits you are getting on the ISO? Does the hosting provider allow you to see the logs at all?

If you are referring to the ones who have put mirrors, I am hosting the server at home, so I have access to all the logs. I am
working on writing a parser script, to gets some stats generated for the downloads of each file.

@TheRedMood
Thanks for the offer, but I can't be doing with download times in the 'hours', over 3hrs with wget, 5hrs direct link!!!

With both rsync and wget you have the option of continuing partly complete files smile

As said, I am hosting this from a home server, so the speeds aren't the best.

I had meant that mostly for corenominal who had his direct downloads taken down as they were too popular.
But it would be interesting to see an actual download count.

Re: Direct downloads disabled, again

Hello all,

I've been using crunchbang for ages now, and I find myself at a critical impasse... I have been given a new work machine and I need the 64bit image, but I can't find a direct download for the x86_64 version and the torrent isn't working for me. Will some kindly soul help me out?

^ the link in this post appears to work for me: http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic. … 69#p314469

(there is no "x86_64" image -- the amd64 image is for all 64-bit hardware)

danke schön.

Shame on me, I'm so used to using x86_64 and amd64 interchangably among my peers...

For the record, I tried a dist upgrade as well, and that was an unmitigated disaster.

I only mentioned it because some new users get confused and actually go looking for an x86_64 image because they think the amd64 won't run on their Intel hardware...

There is a separate architecture called ia64, but it is generally incompatible with most Intel and AMD multi-core processors.  I understand this architecture is exclusive to the Itanium family of processors, which most of us won't find in desktop/laptop machines.

Re: Direct downloads disabled, again

I have a small VPS with 29TB of traffic a month. I'll set it up as a "mirror" for the latest #! release ISOs. Connection is 100Mbit, so if there's not too much traffic, download speeds should be decent. The box is dedicated to being a #! download server.

UPDATE: http://crunchbang.quateria.net is set up. Enjoy!

Re: Direct downloads disabled, again

Since torrent seems to be a problem for a lots of us. I started working a on dynamic repository system using the Web2py framework.
It could be an easier way of finding the different alive mirror.

How it would work?
If example, I want to post a new mirror, I just add the link via the webpage and every time someone try to download crunchbang, the apps query the database and check available mirror. Look for the closest one and start the download. If the link is broken, the mirror get downvoted via a score system, if the score is too low, the mirror is deleted.

Advantage
It would be easier to find a working direct download link without limiting people who want to help by hosting it only for some     time

Any other idea?

As soon as the uploads finish, there will be a download mirror for all versions of #! on the PiBang server.

Sounds like a good idea. But I would take into consideration available bandwidth and download speed as well. Otherwise some servers will be pounded.

A simple list somewhere near the downloads with these mirrors would be a good start, IMHO. I think we have enough capacity now to cater the demand.
