Important detail: He was not convicted for running a Tor node per se but for 'aiding', according to the judge the intention was to support child pornography and / or the distribution of it. (No judgement here.)

the blog article linked in the first post starts with "at least i got my guns back".
i think i'm really prejudiced in that i immediately lose interest in a person's misfortune when they own guns.

@mildred huxstetter ("but have you realised the date on that post"): the post is 1.5 years old. the raid was presumably a few months earlier. the trial ended just a few days ago. you really have to start thinking in longer terms. the government certainly does.
