Well, if you want a challenge there's this done with 1 wget call to the net for the cities and weather.  More if you consider the "live earth image" with updating cloud cover and day/night shading"

Not to the best of my knowledge ... pure conky that is, but text can be rotated in LUA.

Re: Conky v1.9 Thread

You still can... By writing a lua script which uses the conky_parse function to retrieve information. See this topic by mrpeachy for an example with displaying CPU data via lua in conky. Combine that with another technology to rotate text, also via lua and you're done. It might be hard to make if you're not used to lua or to programming in general.

^ I believe mrpeachy has a lua script that can output text at any angle you like using cairo.
Ask mrpeachy about that I do not work with that part of cairo much.

Working fine here, I see your my mac address just fine.  Mind you I'm not running it solid for a few days.

Without the " -z " option it should show your mac address and other unfiltered stuff.

Maybe because you are updating it every 5 minutes?

Re: Conky v1.9 Thread

Hi - sorry to bother you guys, but I was hoping you might be able to help me with tweaking a conky.

I'm using charley 166's LSD v.2 conky - and I wanted to move some of the entries around. I'm quite happy with shifting offset and x/y values to get things in the right place, but I also want to move the Temperature reading, and I can't work out where to find the part of the conky that says where it should display. As you can hopefully see in the thumbnail, I can move the headings but not the actual temperature.

LSD_Conky.jpg

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Re: Conky v1.9 Thread

@ SallyK

The section in the lsd_rings.lua you are concerned about.:

 {
    name='acpitemp',               arg='',                  max_value=100,
    x=85,                          y=85,
    txt_weight=1,                  txt_size=12.0,
    txt_fg_colour=0xffffff,        txt_fg_alpha=1.0,
}

Obviously "acpitemp" doesn't work for you.

Check out: Using Sensors with particular attention to: METHOD 3 - platform - preferred IMHO since that's what I'm showing below.

What you need is something like:

${platform f71882fg.2560 temp 1}

platform
     (dev) type n (factor offset)
     Platform sensor from sysfs (Linux 2.6). Parameter dev may be omitted if you have only one platform device. Platform type is either 'in' or 'vol' meaning voltage; 'fan' meaning fan; 'temp' meaning temperature. Parameter n is number of the sensor. See /sys/bus/platform/devices/ on your local computer. The optional arguments 'factor' and 'offset' allow precalculation of the raw input, which is being modified as follows: 'input = input * factor + offset'. Note that they have to be given as decimal values (i.e. contain at least one decimal place).

So in the lua script for me it would be:

 {
    name='platform f71882fg.2560 temp 1',               arg='',                  max_value=100,
    x=85,                          y=85,
    txt_weight=1,                  txt_size=12.0,
    txt_fg_colour=0xffffff,        txt_fg_alpha=1.0,
}

Hope that helps.

and added "below" here....

own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager

as well as a couple of other small tweaks.
