About Uptime
Uptime covers Linux, open source, privacy, self-hosting and security for people who actually run these systems. Our promise is four words: tested, sourced, dated, named. Every technical article states what it was tested on and when; every claim links a primary source; every byline is a real, accountable person.
We hold the crunchbanglinux.org domain. We are not CrunchBang Linux and do not claim to be — the heritage page tells that story and points to its living successors, BunsenLabs and CrunchBang++.
What we cover
Distro and kernel news, original security and package-ecosystem research, deep versioned how-to guides, hands-on reviews of tools that Linux users actually depend on (VPNs, password managers, backup, hosting, hardware), free client-side tools, and privacy engineering for ordinary people.
What we won’t do
No undisclosed sponsored content, no commission-ordered rankings, no reviews of things we haven’t installed and used, and no articles under invented author names. See our editorial standards and ethics policy.
